Dear friends and family, This is Gail, Joe & Gloria’s Daughter. Please now that my grieving heart is filled with gratitude for your loving support. My father had died October 5th of last year. But preparing for my parents burial has broken my heart all over again, as if my father’s death was yesterday. My loving husband wanted me to postpone the burial but I need closure or my heart will never heal. I hope my dear friends will understand that I have decided to keep the plans for the 14th but only invite family members. With loving gratitude,  Gail

The Interment ceremony for Joe & Gloria Herring, scheduled for April 14th 2012, has been postponed. We’ll email with the new date as soon as it’s been determined.

A Graveside Memorial Service and Interment for Joe & Gloria Herring will be held at 11:30AM on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located at Cheltenham Avenue & Easton Road Philadelphia, PA 19150. Luncheon immediately following.

The luncheon location will be announced when I know approximately how many will be attending. Please RSVP below.

HERRING, JOSEPH F. Sr., 82 years of age, of Philadelphia, PA. Passed away on October 5, 2011. Dear son to the late Cecilia Herring Vann. Beloved husband, for 51 years, to the late Gloria M. (nee Gallagher), who passed away March 24, 2008. Loving father of Joseph Herring Jr., Lynn Eisenstein and Gail Scullion. Also survived by his 5 grand-children and 3 great grand-children. Predeceased by his brother Eugene Bowman. He was the favorite Uncle Joe to many nieces and nephews and greatly respected as “Joe the Glassman” for 35 years.

According to his wishes, Joe will be cremated and no Funeral Service will be held. The family will hold a Committal Service for both Joe and Gloria at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in the spring. If you wish to attend the committal ceremony in the spring, please contact Delaware Valley Cremation Center or the family via email or facebook. Arrangements by SUCHARSKI CREMATION SERVICE, INC.

Joe went peacefully today and is now with his wife, Gloria, who passed in 2008. According to his wishes, Joe will be cremated and no funeral service will be held. The family will hold a committal service for both Joe & Gloria at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in the spring.

On Monday, Joe began to decline. The cancer has left him too weak to get out of bed or feed himself. It has also caused confusion and fatigue. He’s still able to receive visitors, so if you’d like to come by and cheer him up, please do.

Joe’s party on Thursday went very well. It lifted his spirit and his soul came back to life. Pics to come.

There will be a tribute to Joe at 2pm on Thursday, September 29th at Chapel Manor Nursing Home. Please call Gail and let her know whether or not you’ll be able to attend.
